Siestario
“Siestario,” the project presented by Rosario-based architects Juan Manuel Pachué and Marco Zampieron, has been selected as the work to be exhibited in the Argentine Pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, taking place from May 10 to November 23, 2025.
“Siestario” transforms the Argentine Pavilion into what its creators describe as “a space for collective rest — a place to sit, relax, and perhaps dream.” It offers a moment of pause within the overwhelming flow of images and objects that make up the extensive itineraries proposed by the Biennale.
The proposal resonates with the Biennale’s curatorial theme, designated by general curator Carlo Ratti: “Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.” In Spanish, Intelligens primarily evokes the idea of intelligence, while opening the door to multiple interpretations. In this context, the work alludes to local ingenuity — how, in response to necessity, people repurpose leftover silobags into roofing for homes, makeshift swimming pools for summer, or shade for animals. The Argentine Pavilion continues this chain of inventive transformation, becoming itself a large-scale object of rest.
